People are always on the look out for certain foods that would help them to lose weight or to become healthier. An important aspect of being healthy is to enhance your brain function to reach your full potential. This is especially important for children, so that during school they are able to concentrate and do their best! 10 foods that were found to enhance brain function are:

  1. Avocado: Avocados are high in fats that can protect your brain cell.
  2. Dark Chocolate: Dark chocolate is rich in polyphenols, which may boost brain flow.
  3. Salmon: Salmon is rich in fatty-acids, and it was found that people who eat a lot of salmon tend to do better at mental tests.
  4. Eggs: Eggs, especially the yolk, help in brain development.
  5. Peanut Butter: Peanut butter and even peanuts have a vitamin E which protects the membranes, surrounding the cells, in the nervous systems. Additionally it also helps the brain and nervous system get energy.
  6. Oats/Oatmeal: Oats have vitamin E, B, and other elements that help our brain function at its best. It is especially good for breakfast because it provides energy to the brain, to help carry out what you need to do for the rest of the day.
  7. Berries: All different berries, even when just eating extracts of berries, can help improve your memory.
  8. Beans: Beans provide energy from protein and carbohydrates, as well as many minerals and vitamins, which helps keep brain energy high throughout the day.
  9. Vegetables: Carrots, Spinach, Sweet Potatoes, Tomatoes, and Pumpkin: These are said to be the best sources to keep your brain cells healthy.
  10. Milk and Yogurt: Dairy has protein and vitamins which are important for brain tissue to grow and provides the brain with energy.

Another tip to enhance brain function is to make sure to get three meals a day with two additional snacks. This way you provide your brain with the nutrients needed to carry out brain functions, especially for children.
