Elimination Communication and potty Training
EC is the original human infant pottying method. It is the natural alternative to full-time diapering and conventional potty training. It is a gentle, non-forceful way to respond to a baby’s elimination needs, from as early as birth, which enables baby to follow their instincts to not soil her/himself, her caregiver, or her sleep space. Potty training is a gentle, focused, one-time event that results in your toddler knowing when she needs to eliminate, communicating this need to her caregivers, and receiving assistance with the whole toileting process until potty independence is achieved.

Your child is able to signal their elimination needs from birth
When can I start?
Whenever you are ready to start. The parent needs to be ready, the child is ready when you are.
Can I do half day without diapers when potty training?
Once we start potty training 18m+, once you remove the diaper we don’t put it back on except for night time and naps. Some decide to do it all at once, which would mean no more diapers again, ever.
What if my child is under 18m?
We do elimination communication for younger than 18m. This means that we use the diaper as a backup, but we still use the potty consistently.
Do I need to potty my child every 30 minutes?
We spend the first few days learning your child’s elimination patterns, cues, behaviours, timings, and more. Pottying isn’t a guessing game, it’s calculated. Imagine being placed on the toilet every few minutes without needing to go, you’ll get frustrated. So will your child 🙂
